It isn't easy being green...


Yes, that is a Kermit the Frog song, but green is also the theme of Spring photos! I know many families wait until Fall to get their annual family photos but I highly recommend mixing up your seasons each year. This allows you to have photos with different feel for the back drops- from the bright greens and florals of spring to a more subdued colors of summer and back to the primary bright colors of autumn. Also, don't forget winter! Some photos in the snow with snuggly sweaters and hats are adorable. The differing back drop colors also opens up options for your clothing. You would probably avoid pastels and cooler colors against an Autumn backdrop but it's perfect in Spring and Summer. This blog post though is all about Spring family photos!


Spring is when nature is coming alive again! Trees and bushes are bursting with colors from pinks and purples to yellows and whites. The grass and tree leaves are a vibrant green before the heat and drought of summer subdues them. These colors are often a lovely compliment to pastels, whites and cooler colors in your outfit choices. I would recommend avoiding too much green in your outfit at this time of year as you want to compliment, and not compete with, that backdrop.


The session below if my 3rd time photographing this amazing family. It has been so lovely for me to capture how these kiddos have grown and changed over the past year. I started this photography journey with them when S was a newborn, we captured 6-ish month photos last summer in a field of sunflowers and now here we are at beautiful Heritage Park in Sudbury, MA on a perfect Spring day. This session was rescheduled a few times (as many have been this spring...thanks, weather) but I think it was worth it. Little Miss S was sleeping in the car when we got started so it took a while for her to warm up and not cry when she saw me coming with the camera, but we gave her time and space and I think the results were well worth it! Photographing little people requires you to bend to their moods and willingness to participate with a stranger- as a mom, I get that- and we will figure it out together how to make them comfortable to get the shots you are hoping for.


I offer Milestone Packages to capture baby's first year of life. A typical Milestone Session includes: 60 min Newborn session; 45 min Sitter (approx 6 mon) session; 45 min Stander/Walker Session (approx 1 year). Additional session such as Maternity session and a 9 month session can be added to your package as well as event photography such as your baby shower and 1st birthday party. At the culmination of the year of Milestone sessions, I will work with you to create a commemorative album of your favorite photos across the sessions. Milestone Packages start at $1000 make an amazing baby shower gift to an expecting couple.
