What a difference six months make...

Last evening, I had the pleasure of meeting up with this young family at Verrill Farm in Concord, MA. Six months ago, I had photographed baby S for her newborn photos and now was time for updated photos as she has grown up so much! We decided that an outdoor session with the sunflowers would be the perfect backdrop. Fortunately, Verrill Farm has a beautiful show garden of Sunflowers and they allow photographers to reserve semi-private sessions in their field during the evening.

Baby S has changed and grown so much in 6 months and her little personality is shining! She loves the camera and is such a happy, giggling little lady. Her brother turned 2 since we last met and he is a boy on the MOVE! Give him an open field and it was a perfect spot for him to run and explore. Fortunately, he did pop back for the occasional photo. The results were a perfect blend of posed portraits and more casual, lifestyle images.

Capturing family portraits with toddlers and babies can be a bit challenging as sitting still and posing does not always fit the interests of that age group. What do you do? Go with it! Let them run and crawl and capture those genuine moments that parents love to look back at and reminisce over. When they stop moving, take advantage of that moment and get a few more posed shots.

I can't wait for my future sessions with this family as they grow and change through the years!
