A late fall session at the infamous Grist Mill...
The Wayside Inn's Grist Mill (located in Sudbury, MA) is a spot not to be missed, particularly in fall. It is beautiful with it's stone building and large red wheel turning water. The grist mill is still in use today to grind the corn and wheat that are used in the Wayside Inn's baked goods! Beyond the actual Grist Mill, the grounds surrounding the mill make for a perfect location for family photos with a pond and stream, open fields, and a small bridge.
For all the reasons previously mentioned, the Grist Mill is a very popular place for family photos which makes it very crowded during peak season (Sept and October). I typically recommend to avoid doing shoots there during this time of year as it is very difficult to get clear shots without folks walking through the background. It is also very distracting for young kiddos to focus on photos with some many people and animals around. However, as November comes around the crowds thin out and it is still a gorgeous spot for family photos. As this family shoots perfectly illustrates, photos in the late fall are stunning and well worth the wait! Popular spots are great for photos, just pick the right time of year to make sure you get the photos you are hoping for!
